Sub-meter/GNSS GPS Integration

This section covers how to connect a GPS receiver to the PointMan app. 



  1. Turn on the GPS Receiver. 
  2. Tap the PointMan icon to launch PointMan on the mobile device. 
  3. Enter User ID and Password to log into PointMan.
    • For 'non-Transparent' Earth Users: open the applicable Project
  4. Change the Bluetooth settings in PointMan to enable Bluetooth communications:
    • Go to: Menu > Settings > Devices > and click the Configure Bluetooth button. 
      The device Setting screen displays, with the name and a list of paired devices displayed.
    • Tap: Only visible to paired devices to allow the Locate Tool recognize the mobile device. 
      A message appears stating Visible to all nearby Bluetooth devices (4:59) and a countdown message display.
    • Ensure that the device is set to "Visible to other devices" and select “Scan” or “Search for Devices". 
      The GPS receiver appears in the list of available devices.
    • From the list of available devices, select the applicable GPS device name. 
      If prompted enter the PIN Number: 0000 or 1234 and select OK
      The GPS Receiver displays as being paired with the mobile device.
    • Tap the Return button to close the device Settings screen and to return to the PointMan Settings screen.
    • In the PointMan Settings screen, change the default GPS setting in PointMan.
    • From the GPS drop-down, select the newly paired GPS device from the list. 
      The newly paired GPS device will display in the GPS device drop-down. 
  5. Exit the Settings screen by tapping the Close button in the top right of the screen.

To create a point in PointMan utilizing the paired GPS device:

  1. Exit the Settings screen by tapping Settings menu item in the top left of the screen. 
  2. Tap the New button (upper right corner) to open the New Place Mark dialog box. 
  3. Choose the appropriate System and Component
  4. Tap Save
    The system responds with “Obtaining GPS fix” a blinking cursor appears on the map and the accuracy of the GPS is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen.
    • To save the point, line or polygon's location using the GPS readings, make sure that the GPS tab is highlighted orange (bottom right of screen).
    • To save the point, line or polygon's location by manually placement, make sure that the GPS tab is black (not highlighted), tap the specific location on the map. 
  5. Tap Save
    The system records the component in the system, and the Selection dialog box displays the new feature you just created. 
  6. To review the details of the feature you just created, tap Details
  7. To close the Selection dialog box, tap Close
  8. To log out of PointMan, press the Return button/icon twice.
