The mailbox allows a user to send and receive personal messages and notifications from all environments.
The mailbox can be accessed by clicking on the envelope icon in the upper left of the control panel.
The Message Dialog window is similar in function to an email application. There is an Inbox on the left side of the dialog with a tab for received messages, a tab for Sent messages, and a tab for Drafts. To check for new messages, use the Refresh button. To draft a new message, click the New Message button. The field on the rightside of the dialog box is where the content of the message is displayed. In addition, it will also show the subject, sender, and the date.
In the upper right of the dialog there are options typical to a messaging app. Reply will reply to a message, Forward will forward a message, and Delete will delete a message.
To make a message full size, press the thin vertical line to the left of the message contents window.
The message will now be the full width of the message dialog box. Press the vertical button again to reset the size of the message content view.
When a user clicks the new message button, they will be prompted to enter in a user to send the message to in the To field, and any subsequent receiving users in the CC field. A subject can also be entered in the Subject field.
If the user is satisfied with the message, but does not want to send the message yet, there is a Save Draft button that appears in the upper right when a message is being drafted. Pressing this button will save the state of the message and can be returned to any time by clicking the Drafts tab and finding the message.
If a message is created and closed before sending, a message dialog appears asking if you would like to save changes to the email. This will also save the email as a draft that can be returned to at a later time.
Features and Attachments
When a message contains a feature from Transparent Earth, a Feature tab and Message tab will appear at the top of the message contents pane.
When the tab is active, the feature will have the general information pertaining to that feature and the ability to MapIt. The MapIt function will take the user directly to that feature in Transparent Earth.
If the message has any attachments, an Attachment tab will appear in addition to the Message and Feature tabs. This example attachment below includes an eform. When an attachment is able to be saved, a Download button will appear in the upper right.
In addition to drafting a message from the message dialog box, a user can also click on the notify button within a feature to quickly bring up the message dialog box with the feature attached.
