  7. If it is at all possible that your patrol route will take you outside of cell service, tap Sync to prepare your tablet for offline use. This process will take about one (1) minute to download features to the tablet and prepare your tablet and PointMan should your path take you out of cell service.  Or, tap Close to continue without preparing your tablet for offline use. The Start and Cancel buttons display in the upper right corner.

  8. Tap Start to start the Patrol.
Or, tap Cancel to cancel the process.

Once you tap Start, the tablet will zoom into the map at the area in which you are currently located.

The point will move along with you as you move along your patrol path, leaving a blue line as you move.  A new point (white) will be saved every three (3) seconds as you move along. If for some reason you cannot see the patrol corridor, or you need to temporarily stop the patrol, tap the Pause button.

  9. Tapping the Pause button allows you to continue your patrol but will not track your path, and will not take points along that path.  This is how you create 'Missing Sections' or 'Patrol Gaps'. When you Pause and continue moving, that section of the Patrol corridor will be flagged as a 'Missing Section' in the Patrol Report. All Missing Sections will need to be closed through the TransparentEarth application.
  10. To continue tracking your patrol path, tap the Resume button. The point will reappear and move with you, and the blue line will trace your path.
  11. To create an Observation record while on your patrol, tap the New button (lower right corner).
